Thank you to everyone for giving their best effort each day and good job to everyone in the Terry Fox Run!

Next week those students who paid for Gym Strip will be receiving them. I apologize this did not happen sooner, the order was delayed and just arrived and so Monday students will be receiving their Gym Strip. Those students who also don't have a PE Locker will also be getting a PE Locker on Monday as our Locks arrived this week too. Tuesday will be the last day of this Module before moving into the first round Fitness Testing.

Monday is also my last day here at DTS as Erin Hidalgo comes back on Monday too. I would like to thank each and everyone for you for making September an amazing month of teaching and I wish you all the best throughout the rest of this year. I hope to be back often working on the Sub List.

Have a great weekend!

Health Units

Safe and Healthy Choices, Healthy Relationships, and Life and Learning Goals are the fundamental themes of Health for grades 5-9. The health program will be delivered through physical education units throughout the year, in addition to being integrated directly into classes where possible.

·         WELLNESS CHOICES – Students will make responsible and informed choices to maintain health and to promote safety for themselves and others. Personal Health Safety and Responsibility

·         LIFE LEARNING CHOICES – Students will use resources effectively to manage and explore life roles and career opportunities and challenges. Learning Strategies, Life Roles and Career Development. Leadership Skills, Volunteerism Wellness, Relationship & Life Learning choices are the foundational themes

PE Clothing Requirements
It is expected that students change into activewear and athletic shoes to participate in Physical Education.
Changing for PE class is important for hygienic reasons, allowing increased movement, fostering positive school spirit, and quick identification of DT students when outside.
Students can purchase gym strip from the office at a cost of $12 for T-Shirts and $18 for shorts.
Students may also bring athletic wear from home, if they are wearing David Thompson colors: Red on top, Black on the bottom.
It is recommended to write your name on both pieces of clothing to avoid lost clothing.

Evaluation in PE class

Students will complete self-evaluations after each module with a large focus on skill acquisition and progression. All evaluation will be based on a 1-4 scale. Teacher evaluation will be completed under the following three stems:

1. Performs and refines movement skills
2. Cooperates to demonstrate fair play and teamwork
3. Explores strategies for leading a healthy, active way of life

Power School will be updated with student grades for PE and Health.
